Oh its ON alright!

We are into a third week of demonstrations in Iran. The government is coming down hard, and what last week were groups of thousands, smaller groups of 50 to 100 still keep up the fight for freedom. A planned gathering for today looks as if it has fallen apart. Brutality seems to be winning the battles, but it WILL lose the war. Stay the course!

It is hard to chase a dream. I in no way can compare my dream to the dreams of the Iranians, but I understand their plight. People all around you, friends and family tell you its not worth it. You'll never make it. You should give up and join the rest of us in a long drawn out life with no real excitement. The powers that be do everything to try to stop you. If you hold on long enough it all works out.

I for all intensive purposes am half way through my life. I am not ready to give up. I really just began to understand how this whole thing works and I cannot quit now. There has to be a few changes for it to properly fit together, but that is evolution. I know now I am going to have to do it on my own, with a little help from my true friends no doubt, but they are on the same course, so I know I can lean on them when I need to. And them on me.

I look to the west, and hear a calling. I will find that beautiful voice that echos though my head. Its just going to take a little more time. I'll be there soon, I promise.

PS
A special shout out to Jason over at Freshman Speak for the add, and the inspiration for this post. Good luck on the move old friend!

To The Streets!

They have taken to the streets! Men and women, young and old, rich and poor are fighting and dying for their freedom! No matter the outcome of these demonstrations, Iran is now a different country.

I'll admit, three weeks ago I knew next to nothing about the election going on. Mir Hossein Moussavi was a name I never heard and assumed President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would win in a landslide. But now after a little research, I have leaned a lot and taken it upon myself to get the word out. I am in this for the long haul.
BIO: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mir-Hossein_Mousavi

In the 80's & 90's, Mr. Moussavi was just another hard-liner ready to destroy Israel and the infidels who dared stand against Iran. But it seems he is now a changed man. Ready to talk with the West and live together in some sort of peace. He wants to move Iran away from its military style economy and give freedom to the press. This change comes from the people of Iran. Maybe he realizes the people of Iran (70% of pop. is under 30) are ready for something different, something better. He has said is now ready to be a martyr for the cause.

From the images we are seeing out Iran, it is clear, there are thousands ready to help fight for this cause as well. Graphic images of people in the streets prove this. The video of "Neda" being shot and killed is the most horrifying and has become a rallying call for the rest of the world. (I believe you can still find this on YouTube, but most major media outlets have taken it down)

We need to stand with the opposition and help in anyway we can.

Mr. Moussavi may not be the best choice, in our eyes. But he is the best choice for Iran to begin anew and become something different, something better.

On Iran

So I have decided to start a blog. Why? Because its time I get out of the hole I fell into 10 years ago. But that is another story I will tell later.

Iran:
The people of Iran have brought me here to ramble on with my opinions. As they gather in the streets to fight for their rights, it has become clear that this is more than just any old story on the other side of the world. This is, in my opinion, a bigger story than the US election of 2008. This is, dare I say, akin to the Berlin Wall coming down!

The people of Iran, young and old, have taken it upon themselves to start a revolution. They risks their lives for the right to have their votes counted. And now the world is watching and waiting to see what happens next.

Tomorrow, June 19, 2009 very well may be the tell all day for the future of Iran. A "Sea of Green" march is planned. Supported by Mr. Mousavi (Presidential candidate) and Mr. Rafsanjani (former Pres of Iran.) The Ayatollah Ali Khamenei (Supreme ruler of Iran) has said any violence will be met with force. From most of the video I have seen, the marches have been peaceful. Yes there is violence, but it seems to be isolated. Of course with the media blackout, its hard to tell. I believe the supreme leader will use these isolated incidents to cause some real harm tomorrow. Lets hope the "radicals" with their cameras and cell phones can get the real story out.

To the People of Iran: We the people of the United States wish you luck tomorrow. We stand with you and would gladly walk hand in hand on your journey towards true freedom. Your silent marches are deafening! Good luck and Stay safe
